At LyricsService, we deeply respect the rights of songwriters, artists, publishers, and other copyright holders whose works shape modern culture. Our platform is dedicated to displaying lyrics and editorial analysis only. We do not host or stream audio files, music downloads, or any form of musical playback, and we do not encourage or support piracy or illegal distribution of copyrighted works.

This Copyright & DMCA Policy describes how we handle copyright issues and how rights-holders can contact us if they believe their rights have been infringed.

Our Role and Use of Lyrics

LyricsService is a cultural analysis and lyrics reference platform. We display song lyrics, metadata, and commentary for informational, educational, and analytical purposes. All song lyrics, artist names, album titles, and artwork that appear on the site are the property of their respective copyright holders.

We do not claim any ownership over the lyrics themselves. To the extent that our display of lyrics and excerpts is not covered by specific licensing arrangements, we believe that our usage is consistent with fair use or similar concepts under applicable copyright laws, particularly where content is used for commentary, criticism, education, and transformative analysis. However, this statement is not legal advice and does not constitute a guarantee that any specific use will be considered fair use in every jurisdiction.

No Audio Hosting or Music Playback

To avoid confusion and to discourage infringement, LyricsService:

• Does not host, stream, or provide audio tracks, music videos, or downloadable music files.
• Does not operate as a file-sharing or music distribution service.
• Focuses exclusively on text-based content (lyrics, metadata, commentary, and analysis).

Any audio you hear while viewing LyricsService content comes from your own device, your chosen media player, or third-party platforms, not from LyricsService itself.

DMCA Compliance

If you are a copyright owner (or are authorized to act on behalf of one) and you believe that materials on LyricsService infringe your copyright, you may submit a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) or other applicable law.

We will process each properly submitted notice and, where appropriate, remove or disable access to allegedly infringing material. We also maintain a policy for terminating, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts or access of repeat infringers, including Curators or contributors who repeatedly post infringing content.

Requirements for a Valid DMCA Notice

To be effective, your DMCA notice must include the following information:

• A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
• Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or, if multiple works at a single online site are covered by one notification, a representative list of such works.
• Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of infringing activity, along with reasonably sufficient information to permit us to locate the material (for example, full URL(s) on LyricsService).
• Sufficient information to allow us to contact you, such as name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
• A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
• A statement that the information in the notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.

Our Response to DMCA Notices

Upon receipt of a valid DMCA notice, LyricsService will:

• Review the notice to confirm the required elements are present.
• Remove or disable access to the content identified as allegedly infringing, where appropriate.
• Notify the user or Curator who posted the material (if applicable) that it has been removed or disabled.
• In appropriate circumstances, record the incident and treat repeat infringement as a violation of our Terms of Service, which may result in account or access termination.

Counter-Notification Procedure

If you believe that content removed or disabled in response to a DMCA notice was removed in error or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification to our Copyright Agent. To be effective under the DMCA, your counter-notification must include:

• Your physical or electronic signature.
• Identification of the material that has been removed or disabled and the location at which it appeared before removal (for example, the exact LyricsService URL).
• A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
• Your name, address, telephone number, and email address, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court in your residence (if in the United States) or in any jurisdiction where LyricsService may be found, and that you will accept service of process from the person who submitted the original infringement notification or their agent.

Repeat Infringers

LyricsService respects the rights of copyright owners and expects its users and Curators to do the same. In appropriate circumstances, and at our sole discretion, we may suspend or terminate the access of any user who is deemed to be a repeat infringer.
